Robot Art Show

As automated creatures continue to occupy real estate in fiction, pop culture, our living world and our imaginations, it seems only fitting that we return to the 51st Speakeasy to them tribute. Mike Allen and I are hard at work with our sights on November.

"Mechanical Animal: A Robot Art Show" will be the ninth multimedia art show in our series, succeeding the Studio Ghibli-themed show last May. From the pink robots that battle Yoshimi in Music to a bullet-proof cop patrolling a futuristic Detroit in film, we implore our artists to take inspiration from everywhere they can for this one.
Submissions will be due October 17th. Please bring your pieces ready to hang on the drop off date.
Space is limited. If you're an artist who wants to submit pieces please, email James at with the following information as well as a rough idea of how many pieces you're wanting to contribute:

Artist Name:
Price: (We take a $10 comission from every sold piece that we donate to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma)
Medium: (Optional)
Artist Website: (Optional)

Pieces will hang at least until midnight on the night of the show. From there, buyers who have purchased pieces can take home their art. We'll spend the next week or so after the show returning art and paying out artists.

With all of our shows, we always plan extra side shows around the gallery, inside the bar. This time is no different.
We're booking music as we speak, working on food/drink ideas as well as other things. Tentative auxiliary ideas include a Battle Bots Arena on the patio (30 percent chance of happening), a popping-and-locking robot dance competition, multiple screenings of local robot short films, screenings of deep-cut robot motion pictures and live robot-themed stand-up comedy.

The show is FREE, but there will be a $5 suggested donation at the door that goes to support performers and organizers if you want to help out. This donation simply keeps everyone in good shape and helps us put on more shows.
Like previous shows, $10 from every art sale will go to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The rest goes to the artist. Please bring cash the night of the show.
The Speakeasy is 21+ venue, so unfortunately, if you're under 21 you won't be able to attend.
